I've spent a number of years studying the art of selling through the written word.  And while the body of your copy is clearly important, there is nothing more important than your headline.  Ironically, many people will spend huge amounts of time scrutinizing the body of copy, but don't spend nearly as much time on the headline.  The headline must contain "the big promise" that will sound so intriguing to the reader that they won't be able to resist reading the rest.  So, whenever you want someone to read your written message...whether it's a sales letter, a classified ad, or even a note to your kid...make sure you've got a great headline.
